Nellie Kappler also known by her family as Grandma Nellie of Potosi, Missouri, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the age of ninety-five. Nellie was born on November 20, 1922 in Potosi, Missouri, a daughter of the late Alfreda Parmeley and the late Bridget (Boyer) Parmeley. On May 15, 1948, Nellie was united in marriage to Arnold Kappler.
She was a loving mother to Mark Kappler, Bren Powell, and Glory (Tony) Manno. Treasured Grandma of Misty (Derrick) Bourbon, Stef (Josh) Powell, and Candice Wadley. Cherished Great-Grandma of Abi, Ty and Kindal, MaKayla, and Lindsay Bourbon, Maddie Potter, and Sydney Wadley dearest sister, Virginia McBride.
In addition to her parents, Grandma Nellie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold; son, Joseph Kappler; daughter-in-law, Jackie; brothers: Frank, Roy, Harry, Ralph, Paul, Steve, Tom, Bobby and Raymond; sisters: Mary and Emma.
Grandma Nellie truly lived life to the fullest, simple pleasures and being with her family. She loved when her daughter Bren would take her to the horse races, River City Casino, Cracker Barrell, and the bar. She loved St. Patrick’s Day. Her and Bren would wear green hair and drink green beer. She also enjoyed drinking cold Milwaukee’s best premium beer every morning after coffee. If you ask her who is her favorite, she would tell you, her #1 granddaughter, Misty LOL.
Grandma Nellie is partying with the love of her life, Arnold. He waited a long time for that day, and we are sure that it was worth the wait. Grandma Nellie always said, “Take one day at a time, Ol Boy”.
