Nancy Virginia Wood of St. Louis, formerly of Arnold, Missouri departed this life on November 6, 2008 at her residence, having reached the age of eighty seven years, five months and twenty nine days. She was born on May 8, 1921 at Shirley, Missouri, a daughter of the late Loransy Miner and Nancy Weeks Miner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Gunter; brothers Virgil Miner, William Miner and Elmer Miner; sisters Myrtle Hollinsworth and Jessie Grissom.
Mrs. Wood was owner and president of her own business Peacock Beauty Salon, from 1946 retiring August 3, 1996. She was a member of the St. Anthonys Church. She was always volunteering her time for someone for something. She volunteered for the Alexian Brothers Hospital and also for the V.A. Hospital on North Grand. She owned and managed a group of properties in the city and county of St. Louis.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her husband Willis ?Tunny? Coleman; sons L.K. Wood, Jr. and wife Martha of St. Louis; Larry Rousan and wife Brenda of St. Louis; sisters Gladys Conway of St. Louis; Lucille Allen of Kansas City, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Gravesite service was held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from 10-12 PM at Bellvue Presbysterian Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Knollhoff, Mikel Covington, John A. Gunter, Bob Miner, Mark Miner, Casey Wood.
Interment and final prayers were held at Bellvue Presbysterian Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
