Myra Shipp

October 23, 1955 — August 18, 2022

Myra Kaye Shipp, of Belgrade, Missouri, was born on October 23, 1955, in Farmington, Missouri, a daughter to Denny Smith and Betty Lou (Bess) Smith. Myra went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 18, 2022 having reached the age of 66 years, 9 months and 26 days. Myra was united in marriage to Jack Shipp on June 8, 1973 and they shared 49 years of life and love together.

Myra had one true love in life and married Jack Shipp at the age of 17. They loved to race motorcycles and ride horses before they had their three daughters. It is well known among family and friends that Myra waited on Jack hand and foot and he never had to fill his own plate of food.

Myra was known by many nicknames - Ma’am, Nanna, Merna, Lucky, and Kaye. To her family, friends, and community, she was known to love big. She expressed love, celebration, and cared for those around her by always being the person to make sure everyone had a good meal to eat.

Myra’s dad instilled a love of horses in her from the time she was a little girl. That love was passed down to her own family and it became the Shipp family business. Her favorite place to be was a horse show even when she was doing all of the work banding manes, polishing hooves, and making sure everyone was dressed and ready to ride.

To countless students over the years, Myra was known as Mrs. Shipp. She taught in the Potosi School District for over 30 years. Her family was often reminded that she was the one who had to “punch a time clock” so they needed to get out of her way in the mornings. Myra’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren who are also her greatest legacy. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Those who remain to treasure her memory include her husband, Jack Shipp; dear mother of three daughters: Jaime Shipp and Kyle Sexton, Jacklyn Treece (husband, Joe), and Jennifer Mallinson (husband, Jason); beloved mother, Betty Lou Smith; loving Ma’am and Nanna to: Jenna and Jarrett Seaman, Karlee Sexton, Kayelynn Treece, Michaela Treece, Lueckas Treece, Emerson Mallinson, and Blaze Mallinson; two sisters: Becky Noble (husband, Steve) and Sandy “Sam” Nickelson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Jesse and Sue Jarvis. Myra also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, many co-workers, church family and dear friends.

Myra is preceded in passing by her dad, Denny Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Golda Shipp; brother-in-law, Billy Shipp; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Lou Shipp.
