Milford Ervin Vandergriff of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 19, 2011 at the St. John’s Mercy Health Care having reached the age of seventy two years, nine months and twenty six days. He was born on August 24, 1938 at Mineral Point, Missouri a son to Annie (Rook) Vandergriff and the late Oscar “Boots” Vandergriff.
Milford served in the United States Army from July 1958 – June 1960.
On December 2, 1961, Milford was united in marriage to Margaret Degonia and they shared forty nine years together.
In addition to his father, Milford was preceded in death by a sister in law Elva (Warden) Vandergriff.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Margaret Vandergriff of Potosi, mother Annie Vandergriff of Mineral Point, son Alan Vandergriff and wife Michelle of Mineral Point, daughter Annetta Slover of Potosi, three brothers Clyde Vandergriff of Mineral Point, Kenneth Vandergriff and wife Alice of Mineral Point, Roger Vandergriff and wife Rhonda of Mineral Point, two sisters Joan Huff of Arizona, Brenda Vandergriff of Mineral Point, four grandchildren Chelsey, Christopher, Megan, Madison; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
A Funeral service was conducted on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 1 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Alan Vandergriff, Roger Dickinson, Cory Woodruff, Mike Partney, Scott Vandergriff and Buck DeGonia.
Interment and final prayers were held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Local VFW Post 6996 consisting of taps, flag folding and presentation and 21 gun salute. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
