Mildred Wilkinson

Mildred Marie (Martin) Wilkinson was born May 6, 1911 at Quaker, Missouri. She was the first of nine children born to Lewis Austin Martin and Pearl Margaret (Neely) Martin. She passed away at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home at Potosi, Missouri at the age of ninety eight years, one month and twenty one days.

Mildred was united in marriage to Burton Ray Wilkinson on September 4, 1932 and to this union four children were born. Carol (Harold) Turner of Belgrade, Jesse (Margaret) Wilkinson of Belgrade, Joann (Gordon) Volz of Phoenix, AZ and Susan (Roy) Melick of Casa Grande, AZ. She has six grandchildren Jon (Mary Ann) Turner of Belgrade, Cathy (Larry) Heisel of Belgrade, Cindy (Tim) Wilkins of Belgrade, Gina (Tim) Brendly of Waterloo, IL, Jeffrey Volz of Phoenix, AZ and Laura (Mike) Jeschke of Palatine, IL. She has nine great grandchildren and two great great children.

She has two step daughters in law Lillian Wilkinson of Livingston, MT and Eleanor (Ellie) Wilkinson of Hemet, CA. Their families live in MT and CO.

Surviving siblings are Dorothy Hornsey, Maxine Evans, Nina Ohrenberg, John Martin and sister in law Betty Martin.

Mildred and Bert were married fifty four years. They began their married life in a log cabin a short distance from where they grew up. Most of their married life was spent in Belgrade, Missouri with a brief time in Montana.

Mildred was multi-talented and inherited her love of gardening from her father. She canned, cooked (was a good cook), sewed, quilted, made decorative pillows and many other things. She knew the value of hard work. She was a member of the Belgrade United Methodist Church. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by three sisters Margaret O?Hanlon, Galena Miller, Wilma Worthington and a brother Arthur (Bob) Martin.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 29, 2009 at 1 PM at the Belgrade United Methodist Church with Rev. Julius Ketsenberg. Serving as pallbearers were Greg Martin, Jon Turner, Larry Heisel, Jeremy Heisel, Cody Loughary, Mathew Turner and Andrew Turner.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Belgrade United Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
