Mike Politte, of Mineral Point, Missouri, was born on November 25, 1956, in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Mike passed away at his home peacefully at the age of 68 on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Mike's journey in life began in a large family, being one of ten children to the late Joseph and Lillian (Rulo) Politte. From a young age, Mike developed a strong work ethic, entering the workforce immediately after high school. He dedicated many years of his life to Wade's Sawmill until its closure, after which he continued his commitment with Reed's Sawmill until his well-earned retirement.
Mike was a kindhearted man who loved his family very much. Mike was never one to meet a stranger, he enjoyed engaging in conversation and spreading kindness wherever he went. He was recognized as a kind-hearted man who readily offered help to anyone in need.
In his leisure time, Mike was an avid sports enthusiast. He began playing baseball at the age of 12, participating in local community leagues, particularly at the Ozark Freeze fields. His loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals developed after years of watching their games with great enthusiasm. He also enjoyed gatherings at church functions and was fond of playing horseshoes, embracing every opportunity to connect with his friends and family.
Mike's happiest moments were spent with his beloved Connie, sharing quiet evenings watching Wheel of Fortune and making cherished memories. Being a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa were among his proudest accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife Connie Politte; step-sons Arvy Gorman and Amber Gormley, Adam Gorman; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three siblings Joann Skaggs, Bill Politte (wife, Wanda), and Peggy Adams (husband, Gary). Additionally, he leaves behind brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lindell and Joyce Sampson, Jayne Lawson, Rosemary and Dan Sansoucie, Danny Sampson, Billy and Shelia Sampson, Joe and Joyce Sampson, Mark and Tammy Sampson, and Bob Sampson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Politte; his siblings Rachel Shepard, Ronda Adams, Norma Hedrick, Laverta "Bert" Stringer, Leroy Politte, and Robert "Bob" Politte; father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Theresa Sampson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lloyd Shepard, Johnny Hedrick, Pat Politte, Herbert "Grassy" Stringer, Leon Skaggs, and Norma Politte, Geraldine Willert, Esther Sampson, Gordon Sampson, and Lonnie Lawson.
In recognition of Mike's life, a visitation will be held at DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. He will be interred at Redbud Memorial Gardens in Potosi.
Mike Politte leaves behind a remarkable legacy characterized by love, hard work, and a deep commitment to family and friends, all of whom will carry his memory forward in their hearts. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.

Mike will be laid to rest at Redbud Memorial Gardens in Potosi. Due to weather conditions and the safety and well being of all, services will conclude at the funeral home following his funeral.
