Michael Wayne Moore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Farmington on Saturday evening, November 9, 2024. Born on February 21, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mike was the son of Violet Louise Fleming and the late Frantz Ernest Moore.
Mike’s journey through life was marked by dedication, both to his family and his career. After a fulfilling twelve years with Chrysler Motor, he transitioned to the Missouri Department of Corrections, where he devoted his service until retirement in 2022. His commitment to his job was mirrored by his deep compassion for others, as he embraced his role in prison ministry, gaining immense respect from the inmates he served, who often referred to him as “pastor.” His faith was a cornerstone of his life; in 1982, he embraced the Lord as his personal Savior. Mike loved the moments shared reading his daily devotion with his beloved wife, Vera.
The love story of Mike and Vera began in 1976, blossoming into an unbreakable bond that culminated in their marriage on February 21, 1978. Together, they were blessed with two remarkable daughters, Kelli Stover and Angela Berkbuegler (husband, Rodney). Mike’s heart swelled with pride for his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Michael (Jessie) Moore, Alex Stover, Rachel Stover, Jackson Berkbuegler, Alex (Monica) Burnette, Elayna (Levi) Cain, and Lee (Hailey) Berkbuegler, as well as twelve great-grandchildren: Flynn Moore, Myles Stover, Ella, Lucy, Liam, and Alice Burnette, Adi, Wilder, and Bowen Cain, and Brantley, Westley, and Lakelee Berkbuegler.Mike is also survived by his mother, Violet (Fleming) Hall, and his brother, Frantz Moore III.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in passing by his dad Doyle "Papa" Sutton; paternal grandparents: Frantz E. and Ovie Mae Moore; maternal grandparents: Coy and Berdie Fleming; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Howard and Ruth Riley
A visitation to honor Mike’s life will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Harvest Christian Centre in Park Hills, Missouri, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Dwight Jones will be officiating. Interment will follow at Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi.
Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his devout faith, and his genuine spirit that touched the lives of everyone he met. His absence is profoundly felt, yet the legacy of love he leaves behind will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi.
