Michael Hopkins

Michael Alan Hopkins of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on July 21, 2014 at St. Johns Medical Center having reached the age of fifty six years, ten months and eight days. He was born on September 13, 1957 in Farmington, Missouri a son to Alice (Foley) Hays and the late James Albert Hopkins.
Michael is survived by his mother Alice Mae Hays of Potosi; step mother Erma Hopkins of Farmington; daughter Tiffany Sletten and husband Michael of Fredericktown; three sisters Mary Glenn of Doe Run, Janet Swinger and husband Jim of Kansas City, Donna Robart of Desloge; two grandchildren Tyler Sletten, Chase Sletten; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by his step father Clifford Hays.
Michael worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections for twenty seven years. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing, but one of his favorite hobbies was building and flying remote controlled model airplanes. One of he and his late wife Phillis' proud accomplishments was creating "Buckets of Love" care packages of items for children with cancer.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating.
All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
