Michael Joe Daumen of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence having reached the age of sixty one years, four months and twenty four days. He was born on January 22, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana a son to Charlotte (Gaddis) Seymour and the late George Seymour.
In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by a sister Sheila Garrett.
Mike lived a very full and interesting life. He grew up as the second child of five. He entered the military as a young man and during his twenty two years of service he held many positions in the United States Army. Those were Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Green Beret, Secret Service, Paratrooper and Drill Sargent.
After Mike retired from the military, he held many widely varied jobs, as well as obtaining degrees in ichthyology and theology. He earned a PHD in theology, his highest academic achievement.
Mike was an ordained minister and served his church as a youth Sunday school teacher, trustee and choir member. Throughout his life he loved fishing, hunting, racing and was always singing and playing music. Everyone who knew him, knew he had a fun, easy going attitude. He could always make you laugh regardless of the circumstances. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Michael was a member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church.
Michael is survived by his mother Charlotte Seymour of Danville, Indiana; wife Ruth Daumen of Potosi; three daughters Sara Livingston and husband Dustin of Kirksville, Melisa Daumen and partner Tammy Notestine of Simpsonville, Kentucky, Megan Daumen of Vesta, Virginia; three sons Mike Lohmeyer and wife Sarah of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Sam Daumen of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael Joe Daumen, Jr. and wife Kate of Shelbyville, Kentucky; two brothers George Seymour and wife Lisa of Speedway, Indiana, Phillip Seymour and wife Becky of Danville, Indiana; one sister Beth Ann McDaniels and husband Shane of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother in law Virgie Kaba of Potosi; father in law Steve Kaba, Jr. of Farmington; brother in law Steve Kaba III of Arkansas; sisters in law Sister Annette Marie Kaba of St. Louis; Doris Grant and husband Dave of St. Louis; five grandchildren Dade and Ember Livingston, Josh, Melanie and Scarlett Daumen; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11 AM at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church with Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Lohmeyer, Dustin Livingston, Terry Cannon, Eric Allison, George Seymour, Phillip Seymour.
Interment and final prayers were held at 2 PM at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where full military honors were presented.
All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
