Melvin Brown

Melvin Arthur Brown passed away peacefully and was united with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 69. Born on February 3, 1955, in Richwoods, Missouri, Melvin was a man whose spirit shone brightly in the lives of everyone who knew him.

He dedicated much of his life to his career as the owner and operator of a dump truck business while also driving over the road. Melvin poured his heart into his work, earning respect for his dedication and integrity. He was a talented guitar player, known for his beautiful songs often shared at his church. He had a love for music and playing his Gretsch guitars, which filled many hearts with joy and comfort. Above all, Melvin had a profound faith in Jesus. He was a member of the Book of Acts Church in Potosi. He was a prayer warrior, often adding people to his prayer list. His love for the Lord shown brightly to all he knew and witnessed to. 

Melvin was a man of wisdom, often sharing his favorite quotes with those around him: "you gotta love and tell the truth" and "I'm just tellin' the truth." These words were a reflection of his character—always honest, sincere, and deeply caring toward others.

Beyond his work and music, Melvin had a passion for classic cars, taking pride in his beloved 1960 Ford Thunderbird. He enjoyed the thrill of driving and the joy that these classic cars brought to him. However, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy in life.

Melvin married Linda Lou (James) Boyster on January 5, 2019, a union that deepened his love for family and enriched his life with companionship and happiness. 

Melvin's memory will be forever treasured by his wife, Linda Brown; his sons, Bryan, Kenneth, and Stuart Brown, along with his stepsons, Mark and Matthew Boyster. Melvin is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember him as a loving figure in their lives. He also leaves behind his four siblings: Anna Mae Vance (Perry), Esther N. Bennett (Herb), Roberta Linn Kelly (Kevin), and Betty Lou Harnish (Kenneth). Melvin also had many dear family friends, including Tommy Minx, Donny and Shirley Turner, and Kathy Hewitt, who will hold onto cherished memories of time spent together.

Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kenneth W. Brown and Anna Belle (Arnold) Brown, as well as his brother, Kenneth David "Dewey" Brown, and sister, Eunice Nash.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi, followed by a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to share their love and memories of Melvin, honoring a remarkable man who touched countless lives with his kindness, sincerity, and musical talents.

As we remember Melvin, let us carry forward his legacy of love, truth, and the joy of Lord. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever resonate in our hearts. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
