Matthew Kay

Dwight Matthew Kay, also lovingly known as “Matt” by family and friends, of Potosi, Missouri, was born on December 19, 1962 in Ironton, Missouri, a son of the late Harold Kay and the late Kathleen (Eye) Kay. Matt passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, having reached the age of 60.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his only son, Damian Kay; two sisters: Donna English (husband, Jim) and Marcia Portell; bonus brother, Chris Mead; dear aunt, Georgia Eye; dear uncle, Bob Kay, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his mother and father, Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Kay; brother-in-law, David Portell; bonus sister-in-law, Bonnie Mead; and other dear relatives.

Matt was a bass player in a local band and also played in church. In past times, Matt enjoyed fishing with his son Damian and most recently spending time with him. Matt liked deer hunting and hanging out with his family.

Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2023, from 4:30 pm to 8 pm, held at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9 to 10 am.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the DeClue Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Tony Hampton. Interment and final prayers will follow in the Kay Family Cemetery, Shirley, Missouri.
