Mary Ferrell

March 30, 1917 — March 13, 2010

Mary Margarette Ferrell of Potosi, Missouri departed this life March 13, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of ninety two years, eleven months and thirteen days. She was born on March 30, 1917 at Quaker, Missouri a daughter to the late Lytle Jarvis and Della (Vineyard) Jarvis.

On September 13, 1935, Mary was united in marriage to Crissie Ferrell and they shared 52years together. Mr. Ferrell predeceased Mary on July 30, 1987.

Mary was a life long member of the Stony Point Baptist Church.

Some of Mary?s favorite pastimes were reading, especially her Bible; raising flowers; quilting-she made quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She was always making wedding quilts for her grandchildren when they were small, ?Just in case she wasn?t around?.

Mary loved doing things for others, especially sitting with the sick and dying, just listening and caring. She kept journals of her daily activities, childhood memories, disappointments and dreams.

According to her journal, her philosophy in life was to pay your bills, help the poor and sick; be good to people, especially the less fortunate and elderly, always tell the truth and work for what you want.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant son; an infant daughter Mary Christine Ferrell; daughter Carolyn Byers; son in law Donald Byers; grandson Matthew Robert Pierce; two great grandsons Levi Byers, Nathan Byers; two brothers Luther Jarvis, Olin ?Buck? Jarvis; three sisters Lucy Henson, Velma Davis, Ethel Henson; sister in law Betty Ferrell.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are a daughter Roberta Pierce and husband Ron of Caledonia; brother Glen Jarvis and wife Audrey of St. Louis; sister in law Betty Chewning of Pevely; five grandchildren Billy Byers and wife Beth of Irondale; Allan Byers and wife Chris of Bismarck; Tammy Inman and husband Scott of Ironton; Jim Pierce of Farmington; Scott Pierce of Caledonia; ten great grandchildren Jamie Byers, Katie Byers, Korey Byers, Keila Byers, Krissie Byers, Hannah Inman, Holly Inman, Jacob Pierce, Adam Pierce, Will Pierce; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Mike Jarvis, Rev. Tom McCanless, and Rev. Claude Evans officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Byers; Allan Byers, Scott Inman, Jim Pierce, Scott Pierce, and Tommy Jarvis.

Interment and final prayers were held at Leadwood Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
