Mary Dodd

November 15, 1945 — February 9, 2018

Mary Joan Dodd of Farmington, Missouri was born on November 15, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri, a daughter to the late Stephen Leo Sucharski and the late Elsie Louise (Goggin) Sucharski. On October 2, 1970, Mary was united in marriage to Robert Dale Dodd.

Mary departed this life surrounded in love by her family on Friday, February 9, 2018 in Farmington having reached the age of seventy-two years, two months and twenty-six days.

As the oldest of nine children, Mary was a life-long caregiver and later became a nurse. Throughout her nursing career, she worked at Mineral Area Hospital, Ironton Hospital, AmHeart Hospice, and Potosi Manor. Over the years, she attended to and cared for many, both at work and outside of work. At the age of sixty-one, Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout her illness, she never stopped working and continued to care for others. At that time, she was working for AmHeart Hospice. She attended to those that were crossing over all the while suffering a potentially fatal disease herself. She was in remission for the remainder of her life.

In retirement, Mary enjoyed going to church, spending time with her family, her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She continued to volunteer for Preferred Hospice by visiting those in the community who were leaving this life. When she could no longer get around, she volunteered for the organization by doing paperwork at her kitchen table.

Mary was quite the talker and an inspiration to all that knew her. She never met a stranger, had a contagious laugh, loved with all her might, and had a heart of gold.
