Mary Rose Dement of Potosi, Missouri, was born on February 19, 1933 in Oats, Missouri, a daughter of the late Cluster L. Black and the late Ettie (Barton) Black. Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023, having reached the age of 90.
On October 31, 1949, Mary was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Dement and they spent 73 years together before he preceded her in death on December 8, 2022.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sandra Owen; three grandchildren: Amy Greif (husband, Robert), Suzanne Glaze (husband, Justin), and Michael Owen (wife, Jodi); seven great grandchildren: Emily Rose, Madison Faye, Evan, Molly, Owen, Brady Robert, and Tanner.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Dement; siblings: Gertie, Alice, Arles, Cleo, Phyllis, Stacy, Jaydee, Oscar, and Norman; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elmer and Sally Dement.
Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2023 from 11 am until the time of her service at 1 pm, at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E High St, Potosi, MO 63664. Interment will follow at Black River Baptist Cemetery in Black, Missouri, where she will be laid to rest by her husband, Bob.
