Martha E. Todd of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on September 24, 2007 at St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty one years, nine months and twenty-one days. She was born on December 3, 1925 at Benton, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clyde Parkhill and Madge Pearl (McCarty) Parkhill.
Martha was a long time member of the Mineral Point United Methodist Church, the VFW post 6996 ladies auxiliary and the Irondale Lions Club. She always had a large garden and loved to fish with her husband Silas. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Todd; a sister, Ruth Crawford; two brothers, Dennis Parkhill and Samuel Parkhill.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her daughters, Madeline Britton and husband Don of Cuba, Kay Short of Potosi, Brenda Coleman and husband Bill of Mineral Point; two brothers, Dean Parkhill and wife, Louise of West Frankfort, Illinois, Ray Parkhill and wife, Verna of Parrish, Missouri; sisters, Mary Prior and husband, Charles of Thompsonville, Illinois, Jackie Stubblefield of Benton, Illinois, Patricia Dills of Hammond, Indiana, Julia Crawford and husband, Byrl of West Frankfort, Illinois; six grandchildren, William O. Coleman, Jr. and wife Sherri, Kevin Britton and wife Angie, Lori Marrs and husband Chris, Nick Nixon and wife, Kim, John Joe Nixon and wife, Erin, Chris Coleman; ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 Am on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Britton, Billy O. Coleman Jr., Chris Coleman, John Nixon, Nick Nixon and Jeremy Coleman.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi, Missouri.
