Mark Lyn Akers of St. Louis, Missouri departed this life on January 20, 2012 at his residence having reached the age of fifty seven years, nine months and twenty two days. He was born on March 29, 1954 at Ironton, Missouri a son to Lindell Akers and the late Bertha Lou (Dennis) Akers.
Mark graduated from Potosi High School in 1972. He received his Jurist Doctor from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
He began practicing law in Potosi and served twenty years as the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney. He later practiced law in St. Louis until his passing.
In addition to his mother, Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents James Peter and Eva Mahala Dennis; John Thomas and Muriel E. Akers; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Sharon Akers of St. Louis; son Sean (Tara) Akers of St. Louis; father Lindell Akers of Belgrade; brother Kim (Sandra) Akers of Batavia, Illinois; two grandchildren Aniya Akers and Ezra Akers; two nieces Hannah and Zoe; two nephews John and Will, all of Batavia, Illinois; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11 Am at the DeClue Chapel with Chris Freeland officiating. Musical selections were provided by Dave Brinker, piano and flute, Fred Isom, vocals. Songs played and sang were How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace accompanied by Marks Nieces. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Joe Dennis, Mike Akers, Bruce Akers, Al Jenicek, Paul Mac and Clay Loomis. Honorary pallbearers were Carol Ballard, Jim Leonard, Jim Wood and Emory Oliver.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
