Marion Lawson

March 29, 1935 — March 4, 2011

Reverend Marion William Lawson of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on March 4, 2011 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy five years, eleven months and four days. He was born on March 29, 1935 at Washington County, Missouri a son to the late Reuben Lawson and Lucy (Nettles) Lawson.

On February 27, 1954, Marion was united in marriage to Shirley Price and they shared fifty seven years together.

Rev. Marion Lawson was the former pastor of the New Diggins Pentecostal Tabernacle. There he served as a board member of New Diggins Pentecostal Association, Sunday school teacher and was a licensed minister thru the association for many years.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Marion Lawson was preceded in death by a daughter Regina Ann Lawson Kelley; granddaughter Michelle Lawson; two brothers Troy Kenneth Lawson; Reuben W. Lawson; sister Dorothy Marie Lawson Cantrell and a brother in law James S. Mackley.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Shirley Price Lawson of Mineral Point; two sons Marion Joseph Lawson of Potosi; Ronnie Dale Lawson of Mineral Point; daughter in law Nancy Lawson of TN; sister Patsy Mackley of Potosi; sister in law Ruth Lawson of Desloge; brother in law Lloyd Cantrell and wife Doris of Mineral Point; six grandchildren Rebecca Young and husband Shannon; Krashawn Bynum and husband Matt; Michael Kelley and fiancé Jeannette; Michelle Ball and husband Alan; Shanna Lawson and fiancé Josh; Brittany Lawson and fiancé Harry; eleven great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 1 PM at the Declue Chapel with Rev. Wendell Nipper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Andy Price, Mickey Goodson, Keith Cantrell, Kevin Cantrell, Billie Jo Dean and Ron Price. Honorary pallearers Tim Mackely, Brendan Kelley and Xavier Ball.

Interment and final prayers were held at New Diggins Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
