Marie Lucille Edgar of Potosi, Missouri passed away on June 1, 2016 having reached the age of eighty six years, one month, and four days. She was born on April 28, 1930, in Potosi, Missouri, a daughter to the late Marvin Myers and the late Lucille Youngblood.

Marie was saved at an early age and was a member of Bates Creek Baptist Church for many years. Later, when her husband, Edmond Edgar was saved she joined First Baptist Church of Potosi with him. Marie was a faithful member, was involved in the visitation program and bus ministry, GMA’S and the Church Library.
Marie was active in community affairs. She served as secretary of the Mine Au Breton Historical Society, served as secretary of the Washington County Democrat Club, served as secretary of the Eight Congressional District Democrat Committee, she was appointed to serve on the Missouri Humanities Council Board by the late Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan, served as Treasurer of the Washington County Library Board, served as secretary and chaplain of the Ladies VFW, served on the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center Advisory Board, served as secretary of the Washington County Council on Aging at the Sayers Senior Center, served on the Great Mines Health Center Board, served on the Senior Tax Board of Washington County and was nominated by the Washington County Library and the Historical Society for special recognition of persons who have given extra effort in supporting Genealogical Research in Missouri and was presented with an award of Merit for outstanding achievements by volunteers. Marie was also chosen to receive an Award of Merit by the Meramec Regional Planning Commission. She was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Potosi in her early years and was also employed by the Potosi R-3 School District. Marie retired from the Judicial System after serving as Deputy Clerk of the Associate Circuit Court for seventeen years. She was a member of the association of the Retired Missouri State Employees and was also a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. Marie was loved so much by her family and many dear friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Marie is survived by her two sons: Randy Vance of Potosi, and Jerry Vance and wife Paula of Potosi; three daughters: Glenda Drennen of Pilot Knob, Sherry Vance of Rolla and Tina Eckhoff and husband Kevin Potosi; step-daughters: Pamela Brann of Marshfield, and Cindy Rousan; sister Bertha Gillam and husband Lindell of Farmington, brother-in-law Charles Evans of Potosi; daughter-in-law Mary Jo Edgar of Potosi; and also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband Edmond Edgar; son Robert Edward Vance; step-sons: Danny Edgar and Greg Edgar; sisters: Evelyn Evans and Clara Myers; and sons-in-law: Tom Brann and Vance Heflin.

Visitation for Marie was held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM held at the Potosi First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Ainley officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Bates Creek Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
