Malcolm J. Rasnic of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on February 3, 2010 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home having reached the age of seventy six years, two months and five days. He was born on November 19, 1933 at Wortham, Missouri, a son to the late Fred Rasnic and Dora May (Griffin) Rasnic.
On July 11, 1992, Malcom was united in marriage to Zelda Ruth Woods and they shared seventeen years together.
Malcolm served in the United States Army from 1956-1958.
Mike as known by many was an avid sports fan especially when it came to the Cubs. Mike loved raising cattle and pigs which always became his pets instead of just livestock. He never met a stranger and always had a good story to tell. Mike was a firm believer in the saying that if you never had anything good to say, then do not say anything at all.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his first wife Fern Laverne Rasnic; sister Cozetta Hill; brother Ual Rasnic and a step grandchild.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are wife Zelda Rasnic of Potosi; two sons Mark Rasnic wife Dawn of Desoto; Grayson Rasnic wife Tabatha of Desoto; step son Joseph Hochstatter wife Greta of Caledonia; two daughters Becky Sampson husband Tom of Desoto; Angie Weston husband Skip of Potosi; brother Almo Rasnic wife Joan of Fenton; sister Romina Crump of Frankclay; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
A Prayer Service was held at 5 PM during the Friday evening visitation led by Father Joe Welschmeyer. Services were also provided by the Potosi Correctional Center Honor Guard.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10 AM at St. James Catholic Church with Father Joe Welschmeyer officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Josh Rasnic, Nathan Sampson, Louie Drummond, Mike Whitehead, Shawn Weston and Michael Weston.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery along with Military Honors provided by Local Post #6996 VFW and the United States Army. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
