Lucy Helen Lawson of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on July 23, 2007 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, having reached the age of 91 years, 7 months and 21 days. She was born on December 2, 1915 at St. Clair, Missouri, a daughter of Alvy Nettles and Martha Hunninger Nettles.
On January 28, 1931, she was united in marriage to Reuben Joseph Lawson at Potosi, Missouri. Mr. Lawson preceded her in death on April 1, 1966. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a long time member of New Diggins Church.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons Troy Lawson and Reuben W. Lawson, a daughter Dorothy Cantrell; one brother Walter Nettles and three sisters Ruth Agers, Ethel Lindsey and Velma Stevenson.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her daughter, Patsy Mackley of Potosi; her son, Marion Lawson and wife Shirley of Potosi; son in-law Lloyd Cantrell, daughter in-law Ruth Lawson, fifteen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; twenty-seven great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Bobby Thurman officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Lee Cantrell Jr., Ondo Dunn, Kyle Mackley, Michael Kelly, Jerad Marler and Alan Ball.
Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
