Lowell Cooper

Lowell “Bud” Lee Cooper of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 11, 2010 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of eighty one years, three months and two days. He was born on May 9, 1929 at Batesville, Arkansas a son to the late Henry Thomas Cooper and Rose (Huggins) Cooper.

On October 10, 1981, Bud was united in marriage to Frances Volner and they shared twenty eight years together.

Bud accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, December 26, 1992 in California. He was baptized as a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church and later moved to First Baptist in Potosi.

Bud owned and operated his service station for several years and then began working with Beltone Hearing Service out of Cape Girardeau. Later he owned and operated Coopers Hearing Aid Sales and Service in Potosi, along with owning and operating his own store “House of Bargains”.

Bud enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards with the family. He loved his yard and loved keeping it mowed. He recently repainted and redid his 9N tractor to keep the fields clean. He liked to tell long stories of his many fishing trips with his brothers in law and the laughs they shared together.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two sons Danny Cooper, Gary Cooper, two step sons James Lohnmann, Gary Phelps; four half brothers Paul Halsey, Brad Halsey, Harry Halsey, Jr., Vernon Halsey; half sister Monnie Halsey.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are wife Frances Cooper of Potosi; son Dwight Cooper of Springfield, MO; daughter Carol Bryson and husband Bill of California; step son Ronnie Phelps and wife Fran of Poplar Bluff; step daughter Judy Whittington of Poplar Bluff; sister Sue Langston and husband Pete of Kansas; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Melvin Reed and Rev. Dale Blount officiating.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
