Lonnie Callahan

January 12, 1948 — August 11, 2006

Lonnie Boyd Callahan of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on August 11, 2006 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 58 years, 6 months and 30 days. He was born in Redbud, IL on January 12, 1948, the son of the late Gladys (Warren) Callahan and Boyd Callahan.

He was united in marriage to Janet Herrington on January 13, 1973 in Mineral Point, Missouri. There were five children born to this union.

In addition to his parents and wife, Janet Callahan, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Warren, Tony Callahan, David Callahan and Lynn Callahan; one sister, Gladine Trokey; and his in-laws, Boyd and Glenda Herrington.

Lonnie served his Country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1970, when he was honorably discharged. Lonnie did his tour of duty in Vietnam.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include one daughter, Patty Gray and husband Tim of Mineral Point, Missouri; four sons, Timothy Callahan and wife Tena of Bonne Terre, Troy Callahan of Mineral Point, Jason Callahan of Bellingham, WA, Lonnie Callahan, Jr. and wife Crystal of Potosi; two sisters, Elaine Boyer and husband Marvin of Cadet, and Janet Ruth Bishop of Omaha, NE; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a special family friend, Marsha Rulo; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, August 14, 2006 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri, with Rev. Rick Wade and Rev. Ardell Gray officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Skaggs, Josh Boyer, Allen Goodson, Rob Politte, Bill Gleeson and Rocky Cook.

Interment and final prayers were held at New Diggins Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
