Lloyd Griggs

June 10, 1929 — September 29, 2008

Lloyd Clide Griggs of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on September 29, 2008 at his residence, having reached the age of 79 years 3 months and 19 days.

He was united in marriage in 1952 to Virginia Mae Settles and they shared almost 56 years together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers L.P. Griggs and Willard Griggs.

Lloyd worked at the Shoe Factory and was Union Laborer for Bloomsdale Excavating. After retirement, he enjoyed eating out at restaurants. His favorites being Southfork and the Family Steak House. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren always buying them candy or toys and was never bothered by anything they did. He was good natured, humorous, appreciative of others, kind-hearted, willing to give of his time and possessions and always willing to help his family. He liked watching Bonanza, MASH and Western Movies. He excelled at gardening both vegetables and flowers, loved the outdoors, yardwork, hunting squirrels and mushrooms and fishing. He enjoyed visits from family and friends and telling stories of younger years.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife Virginia Griggs of Mineral Point, a son Dwane Griggs and wife Teresa of Mineral Point, two brothers Delbert Griggs and wife Shirley of Potosi, Rolla Griggs and wife Jeannie of Potosi, sister Vivian Mouser and husband John of Desoto, 3 grandchildren, Garrett Griggs, Skylar Griggs, Alysa Griggs, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conduced at 2PM on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at the Britton Chapel, with Rev. Claude Evans officiating. Serving as pallbearers were David Griggs, Terry Suttles, Scott Radford, Arron Radford, Steven Radford and Alvin Radford.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
