Lindel Leo Carter of Potosi, Missouri was born on January 2, 1926 in Gus, Kentucky a son to the late Jack Carter and the late Carrie (Goodman) Carter. On June 28, 1947 Lindel was united in marriage to Gladys Campbell in Beech Creek, Kentucky and they shared seventy years together.
Lindel entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of ninety-one years, seven months and five days.
Lindel will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his loving and devoted wife, Gladys Carter of Potosi; son, Alan Carter and wife Margie of Ballwin, Missouri; daughter, Lindy Carter of Potosi; six grandchildren: Christopher Carter and wife Joan of Maplewood, Missouri; Amy Brose and husband Rick of Big Bear City, California; Ryan Carter of Ballwin; Joseph Aiello of St. Louis; Michelle Finnegan of Lake St. Louis; Meagan Garcia of Arnold, Missouri; great grandchildren: Dylan Finnegan and wife Carly; Hannah Finnegan; Mikey Finnegan; Penny Garcia; great-great granddaughter, Audrey Finnegan; also surviving are a host of special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his father and mother, Lindel was preceded in death by one brother, Hewlett Carter; four sisters: Nellie Stewart; Delores Pogue; Nancy Lindsey and Angela Hogan; father-in-law and mother-in-law: William Robert and Myrtle Mae Campbell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4:30-8 p.m. and Thursday, August 10, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Guy Conway officiating assisted by Pastor Don Strauser.
Interment at final prayers will be held at the Hopewell Cemetery where Lindel will receive full military honors by the United States Navy and VFW Post 6996.
