Lily Sitzes

Lily Gertrude Sitzes of Eureka, Mo, formerly of Tiff, died January 2, 2006 at the Marymount Manor Nursing Home. She was born on November 1, 1903 at Tiff, MO, a daughter of the late Willis Cummins and Bellda (Paul) Cummins.

She was united in marriage to Mason Walter Sitzes in 1930 and to this union two sons were born. Mr. Sitzes preceded her in death in 1952. They shared over twenty-two years of their life together. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Potosi and a long time member of the Eastern Star. Lily was very active in clubs and community affairs. She loved to travel, and some of her hobbies were flower arranging, oil painting. Lily also ran a country general store in combination with the post office which she served almost fifty years in the community of Tiff, Mo..

In addition to her parents and husband, Lily was preceded in death by a son, Richard Sitzes, three brothers, Thomas Cummins, Edward Cummins and Samuel Cummins; and three sisters, Grace Cummins, Margaret Kelsey and Kitty Bell Sitzes.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life are her son Mason Sitzes and wife Mary of Pacific, grandchildren Karen Boyce and husband Leon of Pacific, James Sitzes of Charlottesville, Virginia, Richard Sitzes and wife Angeles of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and her great-grandchildren Aric Boyce, Kyle Boyce and Leana Boyce. One great great granddaughter Kaleigh Ann Proetz special niece, Carol Teilhet of Fairborn, OH; nephew Thomas Cummins of Destin, FL; niece, Marilyn Utlaut and husband Gene of LaGrange, TX; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 PM on Thursday at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Junior Fryman, Pug Fryman, Wallace Henderson, Robert Simpson, Aric Boyce and Kyle Boyce.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Blackwell Masonic Cemetery, Blackwell, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
