Lillie Valley

March 22, 1945 — May 29, 2024

Lillie Rose Valley or as many knew her “Rose” entered into eternal rest Wednesday May 29, 2024 having reached the age of 79 years. Lillie was born March 22, 1945 in Bicknell, Indiana to Ernest and Effie Simpson who both preceded Lillie in death.

On November 28, 1960 Rose married the love of her life Carl Valley at a small country church in Mineral Point. Those who were privileged to know Rose would know that she had a deep love for children whether they were family or not. Rose’s love for children was carried into her and Carl’s life, together they had one son and three daughters. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent the majority of her life caring for her family and tending to her home. She also loved to sew, she especially enjoyed using her sewing talents to create quilts of love for her family. Rose was also a woman of faith. While living in Mississippi, she attend The Springs Church where she was apart of the Scrappy Sisters Quilter’s Club. Whether her family was gathering for a holiday or for a family reunion she absolutely loved being with her family. Many words could be used to describe such a special lady however, a few her family used to described her were: “loving, sweet, and kind”

Those who remain to carry on the legacy of Rose include her children: Carl “Jay” Valley (wife, Trina), Melissa Wohlbold (husband, Paul), and Virginia Clapp (husband, Anthony). Twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Two brothers: Earl Simpson and Harold Simpson (wife, Judy). She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

In addition to her mother and father, Rose was proceeded in death by her husband: Carl Valley; her daughter: Angela Valley; two great grandsons: Jonathan Lake and Thomas Inmon; five siblings: Robert Simpson, Alma Small, Evelyn Simpson, Frank Simpson, and Albert Simpson.

In honoring the life and legacy of Rose, a visitation will be held Saturday June 1, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. held at DeClue Funeral Home. Brother Anthony Clapp will be officiating. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have walked along side the family of Rose Valley during this time.
