Lillian Violet Baker departed this life on August 17, 2005 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home in Potosi at the age of 74 years and 13 days. She was born August 4, 1931 at Sawmill Town, Missouri, a daughter of the late James Ivory Bowen and Lottie Mae (Lawson) Bowen.
In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by a son, David Verlin Benson; two brothers, Ernest Bowen and Willie Bowen; and two sisters, Myrtle Kean and Ruby Anderson.
Those who remain to mourn her passing include her loving and devoted husband, Alvin Baker of Mineral Point; her daughters, Phyllis Lucas and husband Stanley of Potosi, Debbie Lawson and husband Bryan of Mineral Point, Bonnie Mead and husband Chris of Salisbury, NC, and Shelia Ann Baker of Mineral Point; her sons, Rodger Benson and wife Janey of Potosi, Danny Benson and wife Shana of Springfield, WV; her sisters, Ruth Wilkinson of Potosi, Delores Dotson and husband Curt of Van Buren, AR, Edna LaChance and husband Hubert of Prairie Du Rocher, IL, Loretta DeClue, of Mineral Point, Hazel Peebles of Crystal City; and her brother, Buddy Bowen and wife Ellen of Potosi; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren
Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Jim Wade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Chris, Mead, Pete Mead, Marshall Mead, Robert Benson, Doug Benson and Scott Lucas.
Interment and final prayers were held at the graveside in the New Diggins Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
