Leslie Hamby

March 19, 1940 — April 26, 2010

Leslie Jean Hamby of Cadet, Missouri departed this life on April 26, 2010 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of seventy years, one month and seven days. She was born on March 19, 1940 at Los Angeles, California a daughter to the late Leslie Plimpton and Jean (Campbell) Plimpton.

On May 13, 1967, Leslie was united in marriage to Pete Hamby and they shared forty two years together.

As a child, Leslie lived by the ocean in Long Beach, California. There she attended school and college. After working as a secretary and office worker for several years, she decided to go back to college and get a degree in nursing. In 1977, she graduated and worked as an emergency room nurse until she retired and moved to Missouri.

Leslie was an amazingly crafty person. She had a knack for knowing how to add lace and ribbon to just about anything, as long as she had a hot glue gun.

Her hobbies included motorcycle riding, drag racing, cars, dune buggies, gold mining, fishing, quilting for family and friends and we can?t forget her love for the abnormally large cat?s Bonnie and Clyde. She used her nursing skills to help family and friends. She loved country cooking, especially from Kathy?s kitchen, but her favorite was Mexican food with a margarita. Maybe 2 if she was feeling feisty. She looked forward to visits from her brother Stuart, son Craig, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She touched the lives of many people through her work and hobbies. We all loved her and will miss her very much.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Pete Hamby of Cadet, son Craig Pluss of Cadet; brother Stuart Plimpton of Long Beach, California; four grandchildren Amber Pluss of CO, Misty Rhoan of CA, Summer Pluss of CA, Levi Pluss of CA; four great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on April 30, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Craig Pluss, Levi Pluss, Carl Crocker, Matt Crocker, Stuart Plimpton and Bobby Hamby.

Interment and final prayers were held at Rose Memorial Garden Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
