Leona Missey

September 5, 1941 — January 19, 2017

Leona Maxine Missey of Potosi, Missouri was born on September 5, 1941 in Mineral Point, Missouri, a daughter to the late Hadley James Evans and the late Ellen (Price) Evans. On October 25, 1958, Leona was united in marriage to Charles Missey at the Courtois Baptist Church in Berryman, Missouri. Together they shared fifty eight years and five kids were born unto this union.

On January 19, 2017, Leona went to be with her Lord and Savior at the SSM Health St. Clare Hospital having reached the age of seventy five years, four months, and fourteen days.

Leona will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her including her beloved husband, Charles Missey of Berryman; five children: Helen Marie Lambay and husband Irfan of Berryman, Charles Leroy Missey and wife Beverly of Berryman, Leona Laura White and husband Wayne of Berryman, Hadley Joe Missey and wife Shelly of Potosi, and Matthew Lee Missey and wife Carrie of Mineral Point; brothers: Elder Claude Evans and wife Bea of Mineral Point, David Evans of Potosi, and Steven Evans of Paducah, Kentucky; sisters: Shirley Boyer and husband James “J.D.” of Cadet, and Betty Palmer and husband Ronald of Cuba; thirteen grandchildren: Mandy Blanks and husband Ray, Deanna St. Pierre and husband Paul, Anna Missey, Leroy Missey, Jr. and wife Heather, Rusty Missey and wife Amber, Bob White and wife Tara, Sam White and wife Tonya, Wendy Goodson and husband Matt, Jamie Missey, Hallie Missey, Olivia Missey, Morgan Missey, and Madison Missey; fifteen great grandchildren: Evan, Abi, Allie, Lexie, Austin, Lindsey, Leah, Wesley, Paisley, James, Adalyn, Lucas, Briella, Mirranda, and Chase; one great-great granddaughter, Makkiah; and special friends: Stanley and Carol Williams, and Jennifer and Robert Rugh.

In addition to her parents, Leona is preceded in death by her brothers: James, Bobby Gene, Phillip Bruce, and Elder Charles E. Evans, and her sister, Ruby Allen.

Visitation for Leona will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday. January 23, 2017, beginning at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel, with Elder J.C. Huddleston officiating.

Honoring Leona by serving as their pallbearers will be Leroy Missey, Jr., Rusty Missey, Bob White, Raymond Blanks, Matt Goodson, and Evan Missey. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Sam White.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Courtois Cemetery in Berryman, Missouri.
All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
