Leatha Bowles

July 6, 1916 — April 26, 2009

Leatha Bowles of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on April 26, 2009 at her residence having reached the age of ninety two years, nine months and twenty days. She was born on July 6, 1916 at Sullivan, Missouri, a daughter to the late Richard Wade and Irene Anderson Wade.

On February 18, 1933, Granny married Orin Luther Bowles and they shared almost sixty five years together. Even though grandpa went on to be with the Lord, granny always knew on any given day how many years, months and days they would have been married. Grandpa preceded her in death on September 25, 1998.

Granny was a long time member of the Hopewell
Church of God. She loved the lord with all of her heart, loved her church family and wasn?t ashamed to show it. Granny spent many hours on her knees in prayer. When she wasn?t praying, she would roam around humming the tunes to the old time hymnals that she loved dearly. One of her favorites was Amazing Grace. But then again, she said that was every born again believers song. Granny enjoyed life and being independent. Even though sickness came, she never let her beat her. She loved her family, but to granny everyone was family. She had a passion for quilting. She focused a lot of her time throughout life stitching together memories that can never be lost.

In addition to her parents and husband, Granny was preceded in death by a brother Floyd Wade; five sisters Frances Marler, Ruby Wade, Nora Politte, Gertie Wade and Fern Wade; a granddaughter Pamela Dudley and a grandson Joey Paul.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life are her three daughters Robin Smith and husband Rev. Paul of House Springs; Rose Thompson and husband Rev. Alton of Indiana; June Stone and husband Lester of Mineral Point; two sons Dean Bowles and wife Carolyn of Mineral Point; Orin Bowles and wife Mary of Potosi; two brothers Rev. Phil Wade and wife Violet of Potosi; Rev. Robert Wade and wife Eileen of Potosi; fifteen grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 1 PM at the Hopewell Church of God with Rev. Jim Wade and Phil Wade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Micah Thompson, Alton Thompson, Matt Smith, Daniel Smith, Wayne Bowles, Shawn ?Bo? Bowles, Paul Smith II. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Stone and Kevin Stone.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
