Laverne Thompson

January 2, 1937 — February 5, 2008

LaVerne Marie Thompson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on February 5, 2008 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri, having reached the age of seventy-one years, one month and three days. She was born on January 2, 1937 at Palmer, Missouri, a daughter of the late Alonzo Ray Wilkerson and Sarah Elsie (Skiles) Wilkerson.

In addition to her parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Wilkerson, George Wilkerson, Harold Wilkerson; three sisters, Marjorie Cain, Mary Catherine Carter and Linda Brandel.

LaVerne was united in marriage to James H. Thompson in 1954 and five children were born to this union. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved being surrounded by family and loved the holidays when all the family would gather together, especially the grandchildren.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include four daughters, Theresa Thompson and special friend, Dennis Farris of Potosi, Debbie Eckhoff and special friend Larry Bourbon of Potosi, Janet Boyer and husband, Eddie of Cadet, Jamie Eaves and husband Chris of Potosi; a son, Lonnie Thompson and MoraLee Dobbs of Potosi; two brothers, Ronald Wilkerson and wife Mary of Odessa, Randy Wilkerson and wife Janet of Potosi; three sisters, Charlotte Bauer of Potosi, Carolyn Scott and husband, Marion of Potosi, Iris McConnell and husband, Don of Potosi; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Johnny Emily officiating. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons Joe Boyer, Eric Boyer, Lonnie Eckhoff, Christopher Eaves, Cody Eye and Allen Maxwell.

Interment and final prayers were held at Palmer Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
