Kenneth Wayne Kelly Sr. of Desloge, Missouri was born on November 29, 1948 in Fredericktown, Missouri, a son to the late Walter Kelly Sr. and Mary Ruth (Hackworth) Kelly. Kenny, as most affectionately knew him, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the age of 75.
Kenny was united to the love of his life, Marida “Rita” Mahurin on October 21, 1973, and they shared 47 years together. Kenny proudly served in the United States Navy. He was very patriotic and was a proud American. In past times, Kenny loved attending the stockcar races, hunting, and fishing. Some other interests of Kenny’s were watching wrestling, Cardinals Baseball and other sports, Gunsmoke, listening to his scanner and old gospel music. Kenny loved the Lord and prayed every day. Through the years, Kenny was known for wheeling and dealing. He enjoyed attending countless auctions with Rita. Kenny loved his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Kenny has left an impression on the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Those who remain to treasure his memory include his six children: Lisa Johnson, Todd (Cindy) Maurath, Kenneth (Dana) Kelly Jr, Kristina Kelly and Dallas Hodge, Trish Hernandez, and Christopher (Melissa) Kelly; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three siblings: Patty (Mike) Johnson, Donna (Joey) Roaher, and Marilyn Kelly. Kenny also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marida “Rita” Kelly; daughter, Crystal Kelly; first grandson, Anthony; five siblings: Terry Kelly, Scotty Kelly, Mark Kelly, Dennis Kelly and Charlotte "Lou" Darlene Mosier; and niece, Chelsie Kelly.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High St., Potosi, MO 63664. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 8, from 9 am until the time of his Funeral Service at 11 am, held in the DeClue Chapel. Interment and final prayers will follow at Bismarck Masonic Cemetery. Kenny will receive full military honors presented by the United States Navy and DeSoto VFW Post 1831. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
