Kenneth Byrd Daugherty of Cadet, Missouri, formerly of Washington, Illinois, was born on December 10, 1949 in Knoxville, Tennessee, a son of the late Byrd Daugherty and Opal (Phillips) Daugherty. Ken passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, having reached the age of 74.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his long-time companion and love of his life for 20 years, Rebecca Hickam; daughters, Clara Hickam, Tiffany Hickam (Fiancé, James Shoemaker); 15 grandchildren: 3 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Anita Daugherty Seiber, Virgie Daugherty Jessie, Venna Daugherty Roberts; and mother-in-law, Clara Hale.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his two sons: Scott and Joseph Daugherty; brother, Roger Daugherty; and sister, Tena Daugherty Moore,
Ken was a caring and generous man, who made sure everyone else was always taken care of before himself—family was his number one priority. Ken was an avid collector of coins, guns, and anything Coca-Cola. He often traveled to coin collection shows and when him and his family weren’t going to shows, they traveled just to spend time with one another. Ken enjoyed his companionship with Rebecca over the years and had many fond memories together. Ken also loved being outdoors and the beauty of nature. Ken was a proud member of the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge #625 obtaining the Sublimed Degree and most recently received his 50-year membership pin.
