Kathleen Kay

April 25, 1934 — December 31, 2009

Kathleen Ann Kay of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on December 31, 2009 at her residence having reached the age of seventy five years, eight months and six days. She was born on April 25, 1934 at Potosi, Missouri a daughter to the late Marshall Eye and Irene Downey Eye.

Kathleen was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was known as a simple woman that gave the gift of love and hope. Kathleen loved and cherished her children, family, and friends. But, most of all she cherished the word of God. It was very important that her children and grandchildren were in church. She loved her church family.

She was a member of the Republican Party were she served as a committee women for many years. Kathleen always was concerned about others needs first. She worked very hard to make a living for her family. She was a very positive, strong, independent lady.

Kathleen had many passions she loved to work in the yard were she made it into a sanctuary for gods creatures. She grew beautiful wild flowers. She enjoyed resting in the hammock and absorbing the peace and beauty of God?s creations. She took care of God?s animals. She liked all animals but, especially cats. Kathleen was a quilter and seamstress. She made many dresses for her grand daughters.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by two brothers Marshall ?Sonny? Eye, Thomas Eye, sister Phyllis Eye, granddaughter Angela Jett.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are a son Matt Kay and wife Mary of Potosi; daughter Marcia Portell and husband Dave of Potosi; brother Elvin Eye of Steelville; sister Georgia Eye of Potosi; two grandchildren Kathleen English, Damian Kay; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 10 AM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Melvin Reed officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bryce Wilson, Jim Wilson, Allen Gibson, Tom Eye, Greg Eye, and Chris Mead.

Interment and final prayers were held at Kay Family Cemetery, Potosi. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
