Junella May Johns of Farmington, Missouri formerly of Potosi, departed this life on April 16, 2014 at the Farmington Presbyterian Manor having reached the age of eighty eight years, eleven months and five days. She was born on May 11, 1925 in Stoney Point, Missouri a daughter to the late Lee Glore and Virginia (Allen) Glore.
On September 10, 1941 Junella was united in marriage to Alfred Johns at the Baptist parsonage in Leadwood, Missouri. They shared 65 years together.
Junella was a member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church, Lions Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Even though she quit school at age 16, she self-educated herself by reading. She always had a book on her.
She loved baking breads of all kinds. She perfected making the best potato bread rolls. Even when she thought they were flops, there would never be any left. She even made them for all the residence at the home.
She loved swimming and belonged to a swimming group. When younger, she went hand fishing in the creek behind the house.
Grandkids would spend weeks during the summer on the farm. One time she sent the twins to play downstairs. They came back up to tell her there was a snake downstairs. She told them it was a hose only to have them say, "Then Grandma that hose is moving".
In addition to the grandchildren roaming thru the house, there were about 38 foster children that came under their influence.
Every summer she had a goal of canning 100 quart jars of green beans. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
Junella is survived by her four children Patricia Wise and husband Mike of Chesterfield, Missouri, Frank Johns and wife Dana of Troy, Illinois, Marilyn Roberson and husband John of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Bruce Johns of Tuson, Arizona; seven grandchildren Gail Tisius, Scott Nordyke, Mark Roberson, Chad Roberson, Dale Johns, Tony Stoops, Lisa Stoops; three great grandchildren Erica Stroo, Candice Nordyke, Megan Nordyke, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Junella was preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence Alfred Johns, two sisters Nellie Robertson, Pansey Laughin, two brothers Monroe Glore and Lee Glore.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 2 PM at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Lovvorn officiating. Musical selections were performed by Mrs. Beverly McColloch. Serving as pallbearers were Frank Johns, Bruce Johns, Scott Nordyke, Tony Stoops, Mark Roberson and Chad Roberson.
Interment and final prayers were held at the New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
