Judith Marie Bishop of Greenfield, IL, was born on January 21, 1943, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Harrison Stein, and the late Marie (Knapp) Stein. Judy went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, having reached the age of 80.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her children: Paul Bishop, Christine Segal (husband, Steven); grandchildren: Nicole Jones (husband, Terry), Dana Snyder (husband, Steven), Ava Segal (Brenden Gilmore), David Perry (wife, Tina), Travis Downey, Austin Downey, Anne Scalzitti (husband, Joe); nine great-grandchildren; brother, Gregory Stein; uncles: William Knapp (wife, Rella), Kenny Crick (wife, Carol; and beloved dog, Happy. Judy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlene Burris.
Looking back on our lives we took for granted many things because she was our mom. We knew that we were loved and she always put our needs above her own. As children she kept us out of harms way. She had a very strong mothering instinct that didn’t disappear when we became adults. She offered us something that many don’t experience - unconditional love.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 9 am until the time of her funeral service at 11 am, held at Richwoods First Free Will Baptist Church, 10728 Highway A, Richwoods, MO, officiated by Pastor Rick Wisdom. A Committal Service and Interment will follow at 3:30 pm in the Diamond Grove Cemetery, 1601 Lincoln Ave, Jacksonville, IL 62650.
