Joyce Anne Schilly of Terre Du Lac, Missouri, was born on April 3, 1940 in St Louis, a daughter of the late Martin Anselment and the late Tina (Roesch) Anselment. Joyce was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 and joined the Angels and Saints at the age of 82.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her daughter, Alice Schilly-Rhodes (husband, Sam); grandson, Samuel Rhodes Jr., all of Washington County, Missouri; her sister, Marilyn Schild, of Forsyth, Georgia; two step granddaughters Stephanie Grimm and husband Doug; Melissa Carter and husband, Stephen; three step great grandchildren, all from Eastern Arkansas. Joyce also leaves many special nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends and wonderful caregivers- Amy Huff, Renee Courtway, and Joanne Cain.
In addition to her father and mother, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Marie Schilly, and father of their children, Milton Schilly.
Joyce graduated from Dahlgren Community High School and St. John’s School of Nursing, an affiliate of St. Louis University. After caring for her severely disabled daughter, Joan, for 19 years, she worked as a domestic/international tour planner and director, ultimately forming her own tour company, Odyssey Tours.
After retirement, she made and donated over 3000 quilts to military families at Ft. Campbell, KY and many other charities and was known in the Terre du Lac community as the Quilt Angel. During Covid, she made over 2000 masks which were donated to nursing homes, schools, the military and individuals.
A private visitation will be held at DeClue Funeral Home.
Visitation at 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass, at 11 am will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 7598 Piopolis Rd, McCleansboro, IL 62859, officiated by Fr. Slawomir Ptak. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
