Joseph Wisdom

July 24, 1948 — January 24, 2010

Joseph Franklin Wisdom of Potosi, Missouri departed this life January 24, 2010 at his residence having reached the age of sixty one years and six months. He was born on July 24, 1948 at Desloge, Missouri a son to the late Frank Wisdom and Ruby (Camden) Wisdom.

Many knew Joe from working at the Corral Drive In Theater during his high school years. Joe graduated Desloge High School in 1967. Immediately he left to serve his country in the United States Army and spent a year in VietNam. He was honorably discharged, receiving many medals, including four bronze stars and a meritorious unit commendation.

Joe had multiple gifts which he shared with others, and whether or not Joe knew someone, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He was an Assistant Boy Scout Master, Unit Commissioner, and was on the St. Louis Council. Joe was awarded for his ability to work with children with whom others would not take the time. He listened to these children, and some went on to become Eagle Scouts and leaders in their communities.

Joe spend the last 11 years of his life in Shirley, Missouri, where he had many friends and was well respected within the community. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and will sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Paula Wisdom of Potosi; three sons Paul James Wisdom and wife Gina of High Ridge; Jason Alan Wisdom and wife Kari of High Ridge; Joseph Edward ?Knot head? Wisdom and wife Jeannie of Potosi; two brothers Kenneth Wisdom and wife Joann of New Orleans; Paul Wisdom and wife Sherry of Leadwood; father and mother in law Paul Simino and Dorothy Simino of Desloge; eight grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10 AM at the St. James Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Joe Welschmeyer; pastor, presider & homilist, Fr. James French, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills, friend of family. Music provided by Resurrection Choir; organist Mrs. Rebecca Richards. Serving as pallbearers were members of the Local VFW Post #6996.

Interment and final prayers were held at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
