Joseph Howard Smith of Mineral Point, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on February 20, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family, having reached the age of eighty four years, four months, and fifteen days. He was born on October 5, 1931 in Washington County, a son to the late Henry Thomas Smith and the late Sadie Irene (Owens) Smith.
On June 6, 1955, Joe was united in marriage JoAnn Smith in Potosi and five children were born to this union.
Joe is survived by his son Wayne Smith of Mineral Point; four daughters: Debbie Shepard of Cadet, Judy Kean of Park Hills, Cindy Vance and husband Ronnie of Mineral Point, and Patricia Vance of Potosi; brother Lindell Smith and wife Marlene of Pennsylvania; three sisters: Glenda Cain of Potosi, Irm Lee Coleman and husband Richard of Ohio, and Juanita Nicholson and husband Gale of Belgrade; fourteen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and also many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife JoAnn Smith; great grandson Tanis Joseph Wayne Smith; sister Lela Delores Smith; brother Elbert "Doc" Smith; son-in-law Freddie Vance, Jr.; and brother-in-law Nolan Cain.
Visitation for Joe will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service. Funeral services for Joe will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, in the DeClue Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Bob Adams officiating.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
