Joseph Richardson

March 6, 1933 — November 2, 2010

Wilburn Joseph “Popeye” Richardson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on November 2, 2010 at his residence having reached the age of seventy seven years, seven months and twenty seven days. He was born on March 6, 1933 at Cadet, Missouri a son to the late Orville Richardson and Pearl (Portell) Richardson.

On July 12, 1980, Joe was united in marriage to Nancy Sansoucie and they shared thirty years together.

Joe was a devoted member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church for thirty years.

Among the many things in life that Joe loved were playing euchre with his family and friends, fishing trips with his brothers, and most of all he loved spending time with his Nancy, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Sensmeyer; two sons in law Billy Lee, Dennis Craig and a grandson Brandon Benson.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Nancy Richardson of Potosi; eight daughters Marsha Keller and husband Randy of Farmington, Kim Coleman and husband Richard of Potosi, Peggy Lee and fiancé Fred Lunsford of French Village, Netta Heberlie and husband JR of Farmington, Crystal Craig of Cadet, Tina Tate and husband Joe of Cadet, Lisa Bequette and husband Shawn of Arnold, Shannon Kirby and fiancé Jake Gravatt of Cadet; three sons Joe Richardson of Barnhart, Eddie Richardson of Farmington, Bucky Benson and wife Billy of Farmington; three brothers Vincent “Vince” Richardson and wife Anna of Arnold, James “Tiny Man” Richardson and wife Shelia of St. Louis, Orville “BB” Richardson and wife Jeanette of Illinois; two sisters Shelby Stindel and husband Carol of Imperial, Mary Cotton and husband Jack of Valle Park; twenty two grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
A prayer service was conducted at 6 PM during the visitation by Deacon Ed Boyer.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, November 5, 2010 at 10 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church with Father Ted Pieper officiating and Father Joe Welschmeyer Concelebrating.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Richardson, Eddie Richardson, Bucky Benson, Cory Keller, Billy Lee, and Dennis Craig. Honorary Pallbearers Todd Lee, Jake Richardson, and Jason Coleman.

Interment and final prayers were held at St. Joachim Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
