Joseph J. Recar of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on September 11, 2007 at Georgian Gardens Nursing Home, Potosi, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, two months and twenty-nine days. He was born at Cruse, Missouri on June 13, 1919, a son of the late Martin Recar and Maude (Catlett) Recar.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Marie Anderson on September 12, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri, and to that union five children were born. Minnie preceded him in death on September 6, 2005. They shared over fifty-six years of marriage together. He was a long time member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin Recar, James Edward Recar and George A. Recar.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his sons, Glen Recar and wife, Mary of Cadet, George Recar and wife, Julia of DeSoto, Larry Recar and wife, Karen of Ft. Leonard Wood, Lindell Recar and wife, Kim of Belleville, IL; his daughter, Lizetta Hamann and husband, Bob of Cadet; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 16, 2007, 2 PM at Potosi Southern Baptist Church with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Richards, Alex Recar, Raymond Recar, Marcus Recar, Larry Recar and Joe Recar.
Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
