Joseph Adolph Nettles Sr., of Potosi, Missouri, was born on February 9, 1936 at Belgrade, Missouri, a son of the late Perry Nettles and the late Cora (Welch) Nettles. Joe passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family having reached the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 22 days.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his seven children: Joseph Nettles Jr. (wife, Linda), Vanessa Ruth Pidcock, Brenda Fairchild, Valerie Rowe (husband, Lewis), Jane Neal, Heather Dean (husband, Bill), Sue Wittke (husband, Bill); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Freda Stringer; Fiance, Norma Knight; three step children: Robert King (wife, Heather), Giles King (wife, Shawn), and Charlotte Crider (husband, Kevin).
In addition to his father and mother, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Beth Nettles; grandson, Jared Petrizzo; great granddaughter, Alexis Forrester; son-in-law, Lee Fairchild; eight siblings: Frances Callahan, Elsey Henderson, Bertha Vance, Rose Bridgeman, Lucy Nettles, Emmagen Nettles, Dolly Jenkins, and Luster Nettles; mother of his children, Wanda Sumpter.
Joe enjoyed life. Joe never met a stranger. Among the many things he loved to do were: taking day trips and driving wherever the road led him, drinking a good cup of coffee, eating bologna sandwiches with home grown tomatoes while drinking a cold Pepsi, attending auctions because he enjoyed the atmosphere, listening to country music, and spending time with his family.
On a normal day, you would find Joe going on a day trip, wherever the road led, or at auctions. He would rarely bid, but enjoyed the atmosphere. If he was home, he would be enjoying bologna sandwiches, home grown tomatoes, and a Pepsi, followed by coffee. Joe never met a stranger and loved listening to country music.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 5 to 8 pm and Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 9 to 11 am at DeClue Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 11 am held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Brother Perry Vance officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
