Joseph Jolly

September 11, 1943 — September 9, 2017

Joseph Woodrow Jolly of Potosi, Missouri was born on September 11, 1943 in Mineral Point, a son to the late Clarence Jolly and the late Laurine (Otto) Jolly. On March 12, 1971, Joe was united in marriage to Deloris Bone and together they shared forty-six years.

Joe entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the NHC Healthcare having reached the age of seventy-three years, eleven months, and twenty-nine days.

Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved wife, Deloris Jolly of Potosi; three children: Brian Jolly and wife Sarah of Potosi, Randy Owens of Potosi, Shelly Schnurbusch and husband Bernie of Perryville; one brother, Mike Jolly of Potosi; three sisters: Cindy Jolly of Texas, Margaret Jolly of Potosi, and Anna Jo Lee and husband Herman of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Haley Jolly, Garrett Jolly, Kelsey Anderson and husband Kris, Mia Owens, Blake Schnurbusch, and Libbi Schnurbusch; four great-grandchildren: Brylee Anderson, Austin Anderson, Gander Anderson, and Hadley Schnurbusch; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his son, Robert Dale Owens; two brothers: Charlie and Frank Jolly; sister, Irene Jolly; and granddaughter Jordan Jolly.

Joe bravely served in the United States Army from 1962-1964 and reenlisted from October 15, 1964 through June 5, 1968 during the Vietnam War. During his service, Joe received the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal and the Marksman Badge. Joe was a member of the VFW Post 6996. He was very patriotic in many ways. Joe was an avid Trojan sports fan. He loved going to all the games and supporting the students. Joe enjoyed spending time with Deloris, his children and especially his grandchildren. His memory will forever live in the hearts of the many lives that he touched.

Visitation for Joe was held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation resumed on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, beginning at 8:30 AM.

A funeral service for Joe was conducted on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Father Roger Fleming officiating. Musical selections where “I Saw the Light” and “The Old Rugged Cross” performed by Don and June Dickinson.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Calvary Cemetery where Joe received full military honors presented by the United States Army and the VFW Post 6996. Honoring Joe by serving as Casket Bearers were Joe Trokey, Lester Politte, David Jolly, Kris Anderson, Eddie Reiss and Khris Boyer.

DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the arrangements for Joe during this time of remembrance.
