John Wilkerson

John Emmett Wilkerson, known to most as Johnnie, of Potosi, Missouri entered into rest on January 15, 2015 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of fifty three years and nine days. He was born on January 6, 1962 in Potosi, Missouri a son to John A. "Jack" Wilkerson and Norma Jane (Eye) Wilkerson.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his parents Jack and Norma Jane Wilkerson of Potosi, Missouri; five sisters: Sylvia Rowe and husband Alan of Potosi, Missouri, Sandy Fitzwater and husband Paul of Potosi, Missouri, Jacklyn Shields and husband Matt of Owasso, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Brabham and husband Bart of Jenks, Oklahoma and Carolyn Melton and husband Jeff of Potosi, Missouri; nieces and nephews: Nathan Rowe and wife Jaclyn, Carrie Missey and husband Matt, Jesse Rowe and wife Ericka, Phoebe Davis and husband Kyle, Philip Fitzwater and wife Jessica, Katherine Cullins and husband Roger, Kelsey Fitzwater, Ethan Shields and wife Emily, Emily Ann Shields, Madeline Shields, Josh Brabham, Luke Brabham, John Wyatt Brabham, Ashley James and husband Cody, Joshua Melton, Elizabeth Hoffman, Grace Hoffman, Hannah Hoffman, Emma Hoffman, and Jackson Hoffman; and many more relatives.
Johnnie is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: John E. and Artie Wilkerson; maternal grandparents Johnnie and Janie Eye; and many aunts and uncles.

At a young age, we remember our brother was something special. He never spoke a word to us, but we always knew he loved us and at times was irritated with us. We did not have to learn to love him. He was always the same and truly enjoyed the treasure of this life. He enjoyed buttermilk, pork rinds, and popcorn. He rode in and on all sorts of vehicles, floated in swimming pools, lakes, and creeks. He endured loud family functions and crying babies. He liked routine and had his favorite places to sit. Like any good son, he adored his mother and father. He was given a life society would view as bleak, but lived a life of fullness and love. You see, he out lived all expectations and even overcame when most of us would have given up. There was no one like him. The nature of his sweetness and tenderness is what we will miss most. Our hurting hearts are overwhelmed with peace when we imagine Our Brother in Glory as God intended him to be.

Funeral Services for Johnnie were held on January 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Potosi First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Richards officiating assisted by Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs.

Honoring Johnnie by serving as his pallbearers were Jesse Rowe, Nathan Rowe, Philip Fitzwater, Matt Missey, Kyle Davis, Kelly Eye, and Donnie Eye.
Interment and final prayers were held at the White Oak Grove Cemetery. All arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
