John Stevens

November 17, 1947 — April 18, 2015

John E. Stevens Jr. of St. Peters, Missouri was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 18, 2015 having reached the age of sixty seven years, five months and one day. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and gave him peace. John was born to the late John E. Stevens Sr. and Phoebe (Pratt) Stevens in Butler, Missouri on November 17, 1947. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. The family moved to Sullivan, Missouri in his early life where he lived and raised his family. He graduated in 1965 from Sullivan High School, and graduated from Linn Technical College in 1982 as a Skilled Machinist and worked in the field for more than fifteen years. John was blessed with a large and loving family. He was united in marriage to Kathy V. DeClue on November 30, 1968 in Potosi, Missouri at the First Assembly of God. John was proud of his family, coaching both sons in little league baseball. His hobbies included woodworking, church pie contests where he was awarded first place trophies. In addition, he was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent many seasons with his good buddy Ken Crowder. John is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Stevens; two sons Scott Stevens and wife Holly, Brad Stevens; two grandchildren Brandon and Kaitlyn Stevens; sister Kathy Schmidt and husband Lee; aunt Helen Neeley; uncle Roy Pratt; aunt Mary; also surviving are many cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Charles Stevens. John will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Harvester, located at 4075 Old Hwy 94, St Charles, MO 63304. A memorial service will commence at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Harvester with Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church banquet hall. All funeral arrangements were respectfully cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
