John Gale Lands of Bonne Terre, Missouri, was born on December 26, 1946, a son of the late Jesse and Ruth (Hall) Lands. John went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 25, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-five years, six months, and twenty-nine days.
On January 30, 1965, John married the love of his life, Nancy Nash, and spent fifty-seven years together.
Those who remain to treasure his memory include his beloved wife, Nancy Lands; daughters: Vanessa McEwen (friend, George Callahan), Janice Moses (husband, Michael); grandchildren: Harley McEwen, Nicholas Moses (wife, Ally), Jonathan McEwen, Allison Moses; great-grandchildren: Kaylee Litton, Grayson Moses; siblings: Paul “Trapper” Lands (wife, Mary), Nellie Hahn, and Alice Evans. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Woodcock.
John worked for the US Forest Service for nearly 30 years. He also served as pastor to many local area churches, with Furnace Creek Church of God being his last. John loved the Lord and preaching God’s Word. In years past, he enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, fishing, and camping. John had a great sense of humor, was loving, and caring.
A Visitation for John will be Friday, July 29, 2022, from 10:30 am to 1 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E High St, Potosi, MO 63664.
A Graveside Service will follow the visitation at 1:30 pm at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, in Belgrade, Missouri, officiated by Pastor Mike Winick.
