John Tilman Koen of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 5, 2007 at his residence, having reached the age of 77 years, 11 months and 2 days. He was born at Esther, Missouri on September 3, 1929, a son of the late Jesse Koen and Marguerite Smith Koen.
On May 24, 1952, he married Jeanette Morris at Esther, Missouri and three children were born to that union. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Potosi United Methodist Church, a member of Potosi Masonic #131 for 50 years, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jay Tilman Koen and a brother, Jesse Koen.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Jeanette Koen of Potosi; a daughter, Jeana Renee Hovf of Wellsville, Missouri; a son, John Bruce Koen and wife Mary Ann of Rolla; two brothers, Charles Koen and wife Geraldine of Esther, Kenneth Koen and wife Peggy of Esther; a sister, Melba Thompson of St. Louis; a sister in law, Vera Koen of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Jenifer Williams and husband Matt, Jared Koen; three great grandchildren, Hyson Williams, Camilla Williams, Samuel Williams; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral service were conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Potosi United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Lynn Merrill, Bob Maxwell, Bud Tindall, Paul Rousan, Matt Williams and Jared Koen.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
