John Goodson

John Elera Goodson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 5, 2013 at his residence having reached the age of seventy seven years, two months and five days. He was born on May 31, 1936 in Palmer, Missouri a son to the late William Goodson and Ella (Stroup) Goodson.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two grandsons Dylan Goodson, Darrell Cook; two granddaughters Emma Goodson, Amanda Ramsey; three brothers Everett Goodson, Kelly Goodson, William "Bill" Goodson; two sisters Lelia Kean and Betty Hedrick.
John served in the United States Army from 1954 – 1957.
On June 5, 1957, John was united in marriage to Winona Kean and they shared fifty six years together.
John was an honest, hard working and good man. He loved his home and family. All who called him their friend loved and respected him and he did them. He loved to fish and hunt and was one of the best at both. What he loved most of all, was sitting on the front porch with his wife and kids listening to the whippoorwills with a hot cup of coffee in his hands. A thunder storm rolling in was just "icing on the cake."
He was gentle, kind, witty and wise. We turned to him with every major decision we needed to make. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend anyone could ever ask for. We will never stop missing him.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Winona Goodson of Potosi; two daughters Sherry Watson and husband Tim of Potosi, Phyllis Cook and husband Darrell of Caledonia; three sons Rocky Goodson and wife Mary of Potosi, Johnny Goodson and wife Margie of Potosi, Dale Bowles and wife Sonny of Mineral Point; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Allan Aubuchon officiating. Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons Randy Shepard, Jr., Johnny Joe Goodson, Allan Goodson, Matthew Goodson and Daniel Rutledge.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Palmer Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
