John Coleman

May 21, 1929 — July 19, 2007

John Edward Coleman of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, July 19, 2007 having reached the age of 78 years, 1 month and 28 days. He was born at Potosi, Missouri on May 21, 1929, a son of the late Samuel Martin Coleman and Ollie Alice Warden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Coleman; sisters, Mary Matchell, Alice Stringer, Annie Northcutt, Verna Farris and Catherine Coleman; two brothers, Willard Coleman and Jack Coleman.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. A dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Louis Coleman and wife Pat of House Springs, Janie Dewitt and husband Kenneth of Potosi, Donna Thomas and husband Mike of Festus, Sherry Johnson and husband Eric of Pilot Knob, Cheryl Brakefield of Farmington, Jim Coleman and wife Mary of Shirley; four brothers, George Coleman of St. Louis, Howard Coleman and wife Joan of Antonia, Steve Coleman of Hillsboro, Junior Coleman of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Joyce Reed of Hillsboro; twenty two grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel in Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Roger Taber officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Coleman, Chris Coleman, Mark Coleman, John Lawson, Leo Pfefferkorn and Rich Paul. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
