Jimmie Skaggs

November 24, 1932 — March 27, 2017

Jimmie Franklin Skaggs was born on November 24, 1932 in Tiff, Missouri, a son to the late Samuel Skaggs and the late Genevieve Nickelson. On September 30, 1955, Jimmie was united in marriage to Wilma Dicus.

Jimmie entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of eighty-four years, four months, and three days.

Jimmie will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his daughter, Judy Ann Mason of Potosi; son, Jimmy Skaggs and wife Marva of Park Hills; brothers: Dennis Skaggs and wife Donna of Park Hills, Ronald Skaggs and wife Shirley of Potosi, Rastus “Pat” Skaggs and wife Kathy of Bismarck, and Bobby Gene Skaggs of Lackland, Florida; sister, Sue Aubuchon and husband James of Cadet; grandchildren: Tammy Lawson and husband Woody Jr., Ronald Mason Jr. and wife Camilla, Jacob Skaggs, Brittany Coleman, Jada Klima and husband Sean, Brandi DeClue and husband Michael, Michelle Rifenburg and husband Matt, Zach Lawson and wife Lora, and Alyssa Mason; also surviving are great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Lawrence and Bonnie Dicus, Bob and Dorothy Pashia and Wayne Dicus; also surviving are many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Skaggs; brothers, Samuel Skaggs, Jr. and Vernon Skaggs; father and mother-in-law, Willie and Helen Dicus; son-in-law, Ron Mason, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Jean Dicus.

Jimmie bravely served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from May 20, 1953 until March 23, 1955. During his time of service, Jimmie received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Jimmie was a long-time member of the Potosi Church of God. He loved the Lord and served him faithfully. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren making memories with them that will never be forgotten.

Visitation for Jimmie was held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM.

A Funeral Service begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Rev. Alton Thompson officiating assisted by Rev. Matt Woods.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be presented by the United States Army and the VWF Post 6996. Honoring Jimmie by serving as Pallbearers are Woody Lawson Jr., Zachary Lawson, Jake Skaggs, Jim Aubuchon, Kenny Skaggs, Dennis Skaggs and Bobby Skaggs.

DeClue Funeral Home was honored to care for the funeral arrangements for Jimmie during this time of remembrance.
